I was in the 18 to 34 cohort and fast approaching the 35 milestone. That was 35 years ago, and having just turned 70 it is with a great sense of irony that I&#8217;m singing this song. up to a milestone<br \/>\nA major demarcation line<br \/>\nI go from eighteen to thirty-four<br \/>\nTo thirty-five to forty-nine<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">It&#8217;s a demographic breakdown<br \/>\nA statistical decline<br \/>\nYou can jog and do your pushups<br \/>\nBut you can&#8217;t beat Father Time<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll be in a whole new marketing group<br \/>\nThere&#8217;ll be an older audience base<br \/>\nNow they won&#8217;t try to sell me Clearasil<br \/>\nIt&#8217;ll be Preparation H<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Prince Charles and David Eisenhower<br \/>\nThey&#8217;re contemporaries of mine<br \/>\nI think David&#8217;s still married to Julie<br \/>\nAnd I hear Charlie&#8217;s doing fine<br \/>\nBut Mean Joe Greene retired last year<br \/>\nAn old man at thirty-five<br \/>\nAnd me I&#8217;m still about the same<br \/>\nFull of dreams and alibis<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I&#8217;m in a demographic breakdown<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s a psychological decline<br \/>\nYou can meditate and do your yoga<br \/>\nBut you can&#8217;t fool Father Time<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll be statistically more stable<br \/>\nMy car insurance will go down<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll have more fatty substances in my blood<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll take longer to get aroused.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">When I was younger the girls my age<br \/>\nOften went for older guys<br \/>\nBoy it used to tick me off<br \/>\nI spent a lot of lonely nights<br \/>\nNow I&#8217;m seeing women of many ages<br \/>\nAnd it seems to work out fine<br \/>\nI guess Mother Nature has her stages<br \/>\nAnd I&#8217;m no longer asking why<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Could it be a demographic breakdown<br \/>\nA biological compromise<br \/>\nDoes Mother Nature give us different cycles<br \/>\nTo the seasons of our lives<br \/>\nThe average man makes it to seventy-two<br \/>\nThe average woman to seventy-nine<br \/>\nSo if men seem in a hurry<br \/>\nWell ladies, we&#8217;ve got nine percent less time<br \/>\nI have a friend he just turned fifty<br \/>\nAnother milestone in life<br \/>\nHe got a microwave oven from his new girlfriend<br \/>\nAnd a summons from his ex-wife<br \/>\nThe kids couldn&#8217;t be there but they all sent cards<br \/>\nOn his special day<br \/>\nHis friends say he never looked better<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s the Grecian Formula Gray<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">He&#8217;s in a demographic breakdown<br \/>\nThere&#8217;s a few new physical signs<br \/>\nYou can play racquetball and get a face-lift<br \/>\nBut you can&#8217;t cheat Father Time<br \/>\nAnd as for me I&#8217;m gettin&#8217;
