"Zoloft, It's Been Good to Know Ya'"
This is an attempt to laugh off the hypocrisy and total, complete insanity of the "war on drugs" and the more recent pill-popping, money-making approach to fixing the blues. It's a parody, sung to the tune of "So Long, It's Been Good to Know Ya'," Woody Guthrie's famous upbeat lament about the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression of the 1930's.
Parodies only work if you know the original, so if you've never heard it, Google up the Weavers 1950's hit, or any version by Pete Seeger. The subject matter—the war-on-drugs and its consequences for America and the world—is at the heart of the plot of The Energy Caper. It is also very similar to the tone of the novel.
